Understanding Capping
Cappings are a type of printer component that is used to seal the nozzle of the print head when the printer is not in use. They help to prevent the ink from drying out and clogging the nozzle, which can lead to poor print quality. Cappings are typically made of rubber or silicone and are designed to fit snugly over the nozzle to create a seal.In large format printers, cappings are used to protect the print head and ensure that it is in good working order.
They are typically located at the front of the printer, near the print head. When the printer is not in use, the cappings are closed to seal the nozzle and prevent the ink from drying out. When the printer is in use, the cappings are opened to allow the ink to flow through the nozzle and onto the printing surface.
